Requesting data

01

To begin:

  1. Click on ‘Request data’ tab at the top of the page and choose ‘Request form’.
  2. You will need your ORCID ID to log in. (TIP: Logging in provides you with access to all the features on the website!)
02

Choosing variables

There are three ways that you can look for variables:

  1. Search the database using your key terms
    1. On the home page – simply search using your key terms of interest.
(TIP: if you are interested in the construct “happiness” – try searching for the term “happ”, so that you are provided with the largest number of variables relating to happiness.)
  2. Browse datasets
    1. On top of the page, on the the black bar – click on ‘Datasets’. This option lets you browse each of the different datasets in detail, and provides information about each study. The ‘Variables’ tab displays all the variables that were collected as part of the study.
(TIP: You can sort and filter by assessment type! E.g. if you were interested in only the ESM variables, simply type in “ESM” in the “filter” option.)
  3. Browse constructs
    1. On top of the page, on the the black bar – click on ‘Constructs’.
    2. Now you can either select ‘List’ or ‘Network visualisation’.
      1. The ‘list’ option provides you with an alphabetical list of all of the variables available on the database. Clicking on a variable from that list then provides you with further information about the variables such as which dataset it belongs to.
      2. The network visualisation option provides you with a visual of all the variables, and their connections to any related variables.
03

Add to Cart

  1. Once you have decided on your variables, tick the box next to the variable name and then click on the ‘add to cart’ option on the grey bar. You can continue to search for variables and add them to the cart as you go.
  2. Once you have added all the variables, click on the cart icon (on the black bar at the top of the page), tick the box next to all the variables, and click on ‘Request these variables’. This will take you to the data request form.
(TIP: All the variables that have been successfully attached to the request form will be listed in green text just above the ‘privacy collection notice’ heading.)
